on a knitting note

I knitted this shawl a couple of years ago. It is a half circle shawl, knitted with Lornas Laces wool/silk blend in the Iris colorway. I didn't use a pattern, just combined stitch patterns and a general idea of dimensions from a shawl pattern I liked. When I blocked the shawl it turned into a cape, very beautiful but not very practical for a stay at home mom to wear. It has been languishing in my closet, often admired but rarely used, since its completion.

Last week I sewed curtains for the knitting room and added the shawl as a decorative "valance". Now it can earn its keep and I can look at it everyday.
