new project

Dear gentle reader,

Yes, I have been in the blogging doldrums lately. The blogging doldrums are a direct result of being in a knitting slump. There have been many reasons for this unhappy situation; ie: post vacation blues, temperatures in the 90 degree range, the upcoming end of school for my children and all the flurry of activities that accompany it, knitters block.... well you get the picture. Nothing major, just a slump. And as all knitters know the cure for a knitting slump is buying new yarn and starting new projects.

So, while I'm waiting for my package to arrive from Knit Picks I started a summer shell with some light weight cotton yarn I pulled out of the stash. I'm still working the bottom ribbing, p5, k2 with a cable twist every 4th row. Here's a picture of the two inches I've finished. Another half inch to go and I will start the body which will be mostly plain stockinette I think.

Tomorrow I'll be helping with field day at school. I'm hoping it will be cooler than the predicted 92 degrees. Thursday is my elder son's fifth grade graduation ceremony, luncheon and festivities. Hopefully I'll get lot's of knitting done in between.

Don't fret about your slump. It really isn't a slump, it is just your brain organizing your yarn and trying to find an inspiration for this moment in time (busy summer). In no time the knitting gods will present you with an irresistible project you can't put down!

I agree, it's just reorganization and prioritizing. What did you order from Knit Picks? I've been meaning to order some of their dye your own sock yarn - maybe one of these days. Your shell is very pretty, I can't wait to see more. Have fun at the field day, and don't get sunburned, and have a great time at 5th grade graduation - quite a momentus occassion.

I like the pattern you chose for your ribbing. The cable adds interest.
